Hello, my crafty friends!!!
We have hot summer this year, and sunglasses, not to mention sun cream are a must! I wear eyeglasses every day and recently noticed they have many scratch marks 😣, so I decided to make myself a pouch. This way, I can put on my sunglasses and keep my eyeglasses safely inside the pouch.
If you experienced the same problem, then you will be happy to hear I have a new free sewing pattern, and this one is so adorable!

Spectacles pouch is a soft, fully lined pouch securely closed with a magnetic snap. There is an option to add a side connector with a swivel hook so you can clip it outside the bag, belt loops on your trousers or wear it on a lanyard.
I recommend using fusible fleece or another soft stabilizer so your glasses can stay protected and scratch-free inside your bag or a backpack.
This is a fantastic project for a confident beginner or anyone who wants to practice or is comfortable sewing curves.
The Spectacles pouch comes together very fast, so it is ideal if you have a limited amount of time or need a quick “sewing fix” (especially when you lost your sewjo).
To complete this project, you will need a small piece of fabric, so make sure to check your fabric scraps bin!!!

You will need the following list of supplies:
Height / Width
- 30 cm / 25 cm (12” / 10”) External fabric: quilting cotton, waterproof canvas, waxed cotton etc.
- 30 cm / 25 cm (12” / 10”) Lining fabric: quilting cotton, waterproof canvas etc.
- 30 cm / 25 cm (12” / 10”) Fusible fleece: Vilene H640, Heat N Bond etc.
- 30 cm / 51 cm (12” / 20”) Woven interfacing: Pellon SF101, Wovenfuse, G700 etc.
- Magnetic snap x 1
- 12 mm (1/2”) Swivel hook x 1
- Multi-surface glue, Fray Check glue (optional)
Fabric recommendation: Use a plain or non-directional fabric.
If you want to use fabric with a directional print, take the back pattern piece and draw a line 1 cm (3/8″) below the side corners, then cut it along the line and add seam allowance. Rewrite the labels and change the grainline direction on the top portion (the flap).
The sewing steps are the same, but first, join those two pieces. I would also cut the fusible fleece as one piece and fuse it to the back of the fabric after you sew the back seam.

Skill level: Confident beginner
Finished measurements: H / W / D
8 cm / 18 cm / 2 cm (3 1/8” / 7 1/8” / 3/4”)
