It all started with a simple request from my partner. He wanted a new bag for his shaving kit – something stylish, practical, and uniquely his own. As a bag designer, I couldn’t resist the challenge.
My partner had a clear vision in mind. First, he insisted on something with a secure closure to keep his belongings safe during travel. Next, he wanted handles for easy carrying and a large compartment with an internal zipper pocket.
After discussing his needs and preferences, I created a design that would perfectly fit his toiletries while reflecting his style. And just like that, the Maya Toiletry Pouch was born.

The Perfect Unisex Toiletry Bag
Do you want to make a project that’s both stylish and practical? Look no further than the Maya Toiletry Pouch sewing pattern! This pouch is a joy to make and a delight to use.

Features of the Maya Toiletry Pouch
Let’s take a closer look at its features:
- Soft and Slouchy Design: The Maya Toiletry Pouch has a relaxed, soft shape that is perfect for holding all your essentials. Its top zipper closure ensures your items stay secure.
- Accent Trim and Wide Base: This pouch features an accent trim along the bottom and a wide, rounded base. These design elements look great and provide plenty of room for all your toiletries.
- Snap Connectors for Shaping and Convenience: My favourite part of the Maya Toiletry Pouch? The snap connectors on the sides. Not only do they add shaping to the pouch, but they also act as convenient handles for easy carrying.
- Spacious Compartment and Zipped Pocket: Inside, you’ll discover a spacious, fully lined compartment ready to hold your toiletries, shaving kit, or cosmetics. Additionally, there’s a handy zipped pocket for storing smaller essentials like contact lenses or jewellery.

Skill Level
Maya is an Intermediate Sewing Pattern, but don’t let that scare you!
If you know how to sew zippers and rounded corners, this is the perfect sewing project for you. While it offers some challenges, I’m confident that you can create your own version of this stylish pouch with a bit of patience and practice.
Unisex Design for Everyone
My aim with the Maya Toiletry Pouch was to create a unisex bag that appeals to both men and women. The versatile design makes it ideal for anyone looking to organise their daily essentials in style. When making this pouch, consider choosing more muted colours like brown or black for a masculine touch or a fun, colourful print for a more feminine or playful version.
