Sewing Project: Make Your Own Lip Balm Holder

A lip balm holder is one of those sewing projects that is so simple, you’ll wonder why you haven’t made one sooner. It’s the perfect little scrap buster, made from just a single piece of fabric, and it comes together with literally one seam. Quick, practical, and a really satisfying make.

This idea actually came from a follow-up request from my friend. She loved the Mini snap keychain pouch and thought it would be so cute to pair it with a matching lip balm holder she could clip to her keys or bag. Something small, easy to grab, and always in the same place.

Once I started working on it, it quickly turned into a fun little sewing project that’s perfect for using up small pieces of cork, vinyl, or faux leather, and making something that’s both cute and genuinely useful.

The design couldn’t be simpler. It’s made from one piece of fabric, folded in half and sewn on all four sides in one continuous seam. There’s a small slit cut into the fabric so you can slide your lip balm inside once it’s finished. That’s it. No snaps, no hardware, no extra steps. Just a quick and easy sewing project you can make in minutes.

To make it even easier, I’ve created a free printable template for the Lip balm holder. Just download, print, cut your fabric, and start sewing.

Make Your Lip Balm Holder in Minutes!

I also filmed a short video tutorial where I walk you through the whole process from start to finish. I show you how to cut your fabric, sew the holder in one continuous seam, and cut a slit to insert your lip balm. It’s a really quick project, but I still take you through each step so you can follow along with confidence and end up with a neat, finished lip balm holder.
