Isha crossbody bag – (FREE) PDF pattern by Allsewpetite

Hello my crafty friends!!! How is your day so far? I am very busy working on few new patterns and tutorials, but today I am ready to share a “new” oldie with you. Some time ago I re-visited one of my first free patterns, the Belt bag (link here) and hacked it to make a tiny crossbody bag (more info in this post). Since then, I had the overwhelming need to enlarge the pattern to create more “adult” size crossbody bag, that can carry a bare minimum, such as your wallet, phone, sanitiser, lip gloss etc.

Isha crossbody bag vs “hacked” belt bag

I thought to myself….easy, just print the pattern at the larger scale!…I did that, started to sew, and run into some problems. Where you ask?…The pattern uses small darts to create shaping to the front panel, so when I simply enlarged the pattern and sewn the darts as usual the front and back panels did not line up. It is not a huge problem, all you need to do is to adjust the size of each dart, this requires small amount of calculation or trial and error if you are not into math, but I am sure most of you rather be sewing and not doing math, so I took upon myself to rectify this small problem and created a “new” pattern. You like me a little more now?….oh thank you 🙂

The original belt bag.

Isha crossbody bag

The Isha crossbody bag is a small size bag, that requires a minimum hardware and a small amount of fabric.

It features front flap with a magnetic snap closure, internal slip pocket and adjustable two-tone strap. The strap is attached at the sides to d-rings, however if you prefer to make a strap that is detachable simply follow the video tutorial instead and add swivel hooks.

The main compartment is fully lined and is big enough so you can carry your basic essentials on-the-go. This is a cute crossbody bag, with a lot potential. You can add additional zipper pocket to the lining and the back panel or use a twist lock if you feel more adventurous.
